Planning and Analysis

 

IBSTPI Competency: Conduct a needs assessment in order to recommend appropriate design solutions and strategies.

 

During the analysis of the ExamOne Teleunderwriting Training Program, I first had to take a step back to look at the program from an unbiased viewpoint. I had previously created this program and wanted to evaluate it with my new instructional design knowledge. Using Reigeluth's Framework helped to focus my analysis to create a thorough assessment of the company's needs, mission statement in relation to the training program and to evaluate the current process.

 

After completing the assessment it became easy to see areas that could be improved through new design solutions and tactics. The implementation of online feedback in the training room will prove to be a valuable tool for both trainers and management. This process allowed for self evaluation as well as overall program evaluation. It allowed me to see areas where I have already grown as an Instructional Designer and areas where growth is still needed.
